Thanks, isn't she always at her best when in front of the camera? That's a rhetorical question BTW ;-)

Yes, I like the long hair wig, just for a change. She is so very magical and erotic this way, the long hair works with her ink in such harmony.

Thanks again. Well, as you surely noticed, her hair is set off with an orange gel that simulates the setting sun. Do not fear your gel filters or leave them in a drawer. Get them out and try some stuff my Friend!

am always scared of using gells (or jells) in my photography, I bought them but never thought of a creative way of using them. this Thursday am having a bodybuilding photography workshop, I think am going to try them out this time.

I love her pose in this photograph and the highlighted hair

impressive as always

I'm not a photographer or lighting person or anything and I kept hearing the word gell in reference to the colored lighting in the commentary of this show. What exactly is a gell?

a gell is simply a small colored and transparent peace of plastic material that is placed on the flash head so when the flash fires through it the color is caught and reflected on the subject. on the picture above we see the yellow highlights on the model's hair, I think the photographer used a yellow gell here.

sorry for answering this on your behalf James :) I hope it was a good answer though

After I first heard it I was like "wtf? They smear some kind of gell on the lights? But are lights hot, won't it dry out?" That didn't make sense to me, but wasn't sure if it was just a colored film (not camera type, which is probably why it wasn't called a film.) or not, which made a lot more sense. Definitely can't figure out what it's called a gell.

A body builder should be an ideal usage for gels. Try using them on lights that are on the background or coming from the back on to the sides of the model. Those are great usages. Be sure to gobo them from shining into your lens.
