Nice image. Since I am still an amateur photographer learning, may I ask what you used for lighting here? I continue to struggle with lighting my subjects well.

Again, very cute and sassy photo idea which is well executed.

Thanks much! Lighting is the key to great photography, that and finding the most beautiful models :-) You can read the front lighting in the catch-lights in her eyes. Here you can observe two soft-box lights; the left one is higher and the right is lower. The third light is on the secondary-star of the image, her butt. I had a snooted spot light on a boom, carefully placed above and behind to accentuate the positive. I moved her feet off to one side so the light would not be obstructed. Three lights total. Hope that helps.

Thank you so much for your reply. If I can bother you just a little more...

Are the softboxes continuous or strobe? And if strobe (as I suspect) are two softboxes each with 180 watt flash bulbs for a total of 360 watts effective flash power sufficient? I am looking to buy, but my budget is under $300 for these. And then later I will buy a spot light with a stand and boom.

I use strobes, White Lightnings by Paul C Buff. These have been around for 20 some years, so you can sometimes find them used, places like ebay. Buff also makes other lines of lights that are very nice. I actually have a total of 8 of them in my studio along with many different types of light modifiers. I have all different powers, and each light has adjustable power. The most important thing when starting out is to use whatever budget you have to start building a unified system, then add more to it as more funds become available. But you want to have lights by one company for compatibility, so choose carefully when buying your first lights.

Yes, we thought about actually using a Christmas tree in the shot too, but decided that nobody would be looking at it anyway!

I don't really have anything constructive to say, other than how much I love this picture. This, combined with Home Alone 2 presently playing on my TV, completely honestly, for a second made it actually feel like Christmas.

And do tell Ms. Breeanna how fantastic a model she is, if it's not too much trouble.
